PEGGY MEE, CMT, CCH, HMCClassical Homeopathy, Massage TherapyMASSAGE:
I am certified as a massage therapist (CMT) and integrate more than 23 years of therapeutic bodywork training and experience. I love giving and receiving massage, and over the years have seen and experienced the tremendous benefits that massage uniquely offers. I believe that human touch is essential for health and well-being, and I very much enjoy being a part of the healing experience that massage provides. It allows one to fully relax, feel a sense of ease, let go, and become more connected to oneself and the world of which we are a part. My work is nurturing, balancing, releasing, relaxing. It can be deep, if desired, and I will always be sensitive to what feels comfortable to the person. I feel massage is a blissful experience! My specialty is a 2 hour massage, which allows enough time to fully relax the whole, body, mind and spirit. It feels so wonderful, while at the same time brings relief and ease to areas of injury, tension and stress. I am honored to be a part of this special experience with you! Each session is individualized, depending on what type of massage a person most enjoys, and what best benefits their needs. I emphasize the importance of bringing the body into balance and incorporate a variety of methods, including: Deep Tissue Massage: A type of massage which focuses on the deeper structures of the muscles and fascia or connective tissue. It uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure is firmer and has a deeper impact. It is very beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension, knots, and adhesions. Swedish and Esalen-style Massage: Swedish massage is the best known type of massage. It uses gentle but firm pressure, promotes relaxation, eases muscle tension, improves circulation, and provides many other health benefits. A variety of strokes and techniques are used, a few of which include gliding effleurage, friction, kneading, stretching, and tapping. Esalen-Swedish massage has its roots in the style of Swedish massage and uses many of the same movements and techniques. It incorporates long integrative strokes, and has the goal of connecting mind and body. Sports Massage: Includes stretches and a deep cross-fiber technique, beneficial for the athlete who has “overdone it” or is recovering from injuries, surgeries, or scar tissue. Acupressure Massage: Massage combined with finger pressure applied to acupuncture points and meridians, based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. MASSAGE & BODY-MIND THERAPIES TRAINING: 1986 and 1987: The Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, California. Completion and certification of a 150 hour program which included acupressure, acupressure massage, reflexology, shiatsu, fundamentals of tra-ditional Chinese health arts, anatomy and physiology, and ethics. 1987-88: Sports massage and body mobilization techniques sponsored by The American Massage Therapist Association and the McKinnon Massage School in Oakland, California. 1988-1989: Resource Massage School in Berkeley, California. Completion and certification of a 200 hour program. Sessions included the study of various massage techniques, such as Swedish and Swedish- Esalen, Deep Tissue, Trager, Shiatsu, anatomy and physiology, professional practices and ethics, CPR, as well as elective studies in various body-mind therapies. I became certified in Classical Homeopathy in 1997, CCH, HMC. See the section on Homeopathy for more information. HOMEOPATHIC EDUCATION: 1992-93: Pacific Academy of Homeopathic Medicine in Berkeley, California. Completion of 203 hours. Those who pass the written exam subsequently take an oral exam and can then become certified in Classical Homeopathy. After completing the above trainings I have continued to attended many seminars and have studied with many teachers from and in all over the world. I am required to get 14 Continuing Education Units yearly in order to maintain professional status |
